Ahoy, Mateys! One Angry Veronica

10:25 / /

It's morning again and the difference between the morning i did the last two posts and this morning is shaving. ≤7 am mornings involves bad breath and shabbiness most of the time due to not wanting to wake the household up and laziness to get involved in toilet business (it is more often determined by the latter). Contrary to popular belief, adding more blades of the same size to a razor does not improve effectiveness of the instrument significantly, especially claims about a closer shave. Think about it - why did traditional razor designs have usually have two blades instead of that big snubby hub of blades when they could easily add more? I rest my case. Anyways, I just changed the type of shaving gel/foam to one of those rarer white bottles that leave no trace of fragrance and whatsoever. Being identified by the type of gel/foam you use isn't exactly ideal or maybe it just be me being overly conscious since it does not take a close proximity brush past for me to know what kind of shampoo or powder you are using. Please don't get me started on perfumes. Carbonyl interaction with sweat usually turns out disastrously pungent and amplified.

The title consists of two episode titles from Season 2 of Veronica Mars, one of my all time favourite serialised dramas, unfortunately due to not so justified reasons, the CW had to axe it. The significance of these two episodes was the introduction of music by Ivy, a 3-man band based in New York.

Their music has evolved over time and ranges from classic covers like L'Anamour originally performed by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin to soothing electronic tunes coupled with vocals of Dominique Durand. Also pictured above are husband, Andy Chase and Adam Schlesinger who also doubles as bassist for Fountains of Wayne. A selection of five most played songs in my library:

1. Edge of the Ocean
2. Kite
3. Ocean City Girl
4. Only A Fool Would Say
5. L'Anamour

While Edge of the Ocean never fails to bring meditative calm to bus rides and hectic days, the sudden onset of delerium has forced to abandon the idea of a combo post. My bad, Eels, is not considered to be Indie but still great music to listen to, which brings me to a seemingly philosophical question - what exactly is Indie music? We all know that it is an umbrella term used to describe musicians signed on to an independent/lesser known label but what about cases like Mêlée? It seems that the iTunes Store made the smarter move of labelling Indie and Indie-sounding music simply as 'Alternative' which i take to mean non-mainstream type music. It sounds satisfactory in a logical sense but when doing the labelling of genres of songs when managing your music, you'll see how this turns out to be more of a problem.

This seems almost like a déjà vu trip on the Theory of Art and you get definitions that are too over-arching to serve any practical use. E.g. You want to buy baking soda and you step into a grocery store telling the assistant, 'I don't want a pear'. Like that means anything to the assistant without squeezing more information out of you.

One angry veronica fan here. I remember sending a petition postcard off to the CW but to no avail.

Spends most of the time feeding characters into this blog from a Lycosa, it tries to avoid Americanisation amidst the guise of globalisation.  It believes in Santa Claus despite knowing it to be an illusion - more truthful than that of religion.

It is miserable and is known to be misanthropic.
